Loyd went to be with Jesus last night after an extended illness. His whole family was present at the time of his passing. Loyd became involved in our worship ministry in the late 80s and was really present in worship leadership until his illness began a couple years ago. In addition to his great musical talent, Loyd worked globally in media design, graphics and video. He owned his own media design company, Devotion Media, and before that worked for a number of firms in Central Florida. Loyd was truly a renaissance man who was gifted in music, design, writing, short stories and poetry. He even designed the stained glass window that is hanging now in our foyer at Longwood and used to be in the front of our auditorium in The Rink. Back in the day, Loyd was a pioneer in Christian rock music with his band, Prodigal. They were Dove Award winners and broke ground with one of the first-ever Christian music videos, "Wall of Sound." Loyd did much to shape the sense of awe and wonder of who God is that we seek in our worship experience at Northland. He will be deeply missed by our whole community.
