Lucille Dotson passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023, at the age of 85 following a long illness. She had been a resident of Marion Oaks Assisted Living Facility for the past four years where she had been given loving care.

Lucille was born August 8,1937 in Ira, Virginia. After graduating from Albemarle High School in Charlottesville, VA, she attended Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Richmond, VA. Lucille loved caring for people and worked as a registered nurse for 49 years, finishing her career at St. Luke's Hospital, a division of the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.

Those who knew Lucille remember her as a kind and generous person. She loved spending time with her family and was always there for holidays, weddings and vacations. But she was also there for those who needed her nursing skills and help in times of need. She had a large collection of books and loved learning.

Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Victoria McClanahan Dotson, sisters, Trudy Dotson, Bonnie Lowman and Audrey Faye Allen. She is survived by a brother Clinton Dotson (Sheron) of Altoona, FL, sisters Delphia Lee (Charles Womer) and Nancy Witt of Leesburg, FL and Wilma Dotson of Radford, VA.

A celebration of Lucille's life will be held in the fall.
