Lynda McMurphy, age 82, of Groveland, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 15, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Lynda was a hardworking and ambitious woman. She owned and worked at "The Hair Shop" for many years before transitioning into a successful career in real estate as the owner and broker of "Florida Acreage & Investments." Her leadership skills and innovative spirit were evident in everything she did.
She was a dedicated member of the Beta Theta Sorority of Clermont and served as both a member and President of the Board of Directors at South Lake Hospital. Lynda was also one of the founding board members of the "Pig on the Pond" event, which provides scholarships to students in the South Lake community.
Beyond her professional and community contributions, Lynda found joy in spending time with her family, traveling, engaging in philanthropy, and even trying her luck at gambling.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Billy, and her loving children, Mandy (Tony) and Mark (Kim). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Blake (Jessica), Taylor (Sebastian), Colby, and Carson, as well as her great-grandchildren, Jameson, Isaac, and Mia. Lynda was preceded in death by her great-grandchildren Olivia and Bennett.
A graveside service for immediate family will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Florida National Cemetery – 6502 SW 102nd Ave Bushnell, FL 33513
A funeral reception will follow at 1pm on March 20th at 520 Legacy Woods Ct, Groveland, FL 34736 (Lynda and Billy's residence)
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winking Warrior Foundation ( winkingwarriorfoundation.org ) in memory of her great-grandson, Bennett Messer.
Lynda's kindness, dedication, and love for her community will forever be remembered.
