Lynn Allyson Deans passed away on July 6th in Bradenton, Florida, surrounded by her family.

Lynn was a light to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome, bringing love, laughter, and joy wherever she went. Whether gathered around the family table or sharing stories with friends around a campfire, her warmth, infectious laugh, and generous spirit made every moment brighter.

Born to Stephen Williams and Ruth Jackson in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on August 31, 1946, Lynn spent most of her life in Hampton Roads, where she built a meaningful career in healthcare accounting. She approached both her work and her life with compassion, kindness, and an unwavering desire to care for others. Her nurturing heart touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

Music was woven into the fabric of Lynn’s life. She proudly raised three talented musicians and was one of their biggest supporters, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer them on. She loved the local music scene, found endless joy shag dancing up and down the East Coast, and believed that the best memories were made with good music, good friends, and family close by.

Above all, Lynn treasured the people she loved. She is survived by her daughter, Melanie Lynn Ganz; her son, Ruben “James” Deans and his wife, Karen; her grandchildren, Brandon Ganz (Grace), Justin Ganz, Carly Deans, Kathleen Langford (Jake), Miranda McKenzie (James), Lauren Hill, Hannah Gibson, and Taylor Espinoza; and her cherished great-grandchildren, River, Blair, Dakota, Sadie, Indy, Sawyer, Havyn, Callie, Tyler, Ava, and Cristian.

Lynn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ruben James “Jimmy” Deans Sr., and her son, Ronald “Ronnie” Keith Deans. 

Though the music has quieted, the rhythm of Lynn’s love, laughter, and generous spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy is one of kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

A service celebrating Lynn’s life will be held 3:00 pm, Friday, August 21, 2026 at Lynnhaven Congregational Church, 2217 W. Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23451.

Following the service, the family will receive friends at South Beach Grill in Virginia Beach from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Family and friends are warmly invited to join together in remembrance of Lynn and to share in celebrating the life and memories of a truly cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
