Obituary

Madeline Grace Fortunato, 93, of North Port, passed away Sunday morning, February 7, 2021 at her residence in the comforting care of her family.

Madeline was born on February 12, 1927 in Aliquippa, PA. Daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Stala) Giofre. She was married on June 21, 1947 to Domenic Anthony Fortunato also of Aliquippa, PA and he preceded her in death on July 10, 1996.

She had been employed by J&L Steel Corp of Aliquippa, PA in the 1940's. Once moving to North Port, FL she was employed by the Sarasota County Schools where she worked for 10 years and retired from. When she was not working, she spent her time caring for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and baking at home, her music lessons and playing the organ.

Preceded in death included her oldest child, Roselyn Fortunato; sisters, Angelina, Philamena, Lucy and her brother Joseph Jr. She is survived by a brother, Domenic (Joan) Giofre; her four children, Mary George, Grace (George) Christian, Anna (Tom) Baumann and Damian (Michelle) Fortunato; 8 grandchildren, Dennis George, Melissa (Drew) Smorul, Christopher George, Carl (Chrissie) Baumann, Laura (Steve) Steffen, Anthony (Jynessa) Fortunato, Samantha (Christian) Fortunato and Vanessa Fortunato; and 13 great grandchildren, Alayna, Aryona, Domnique, Landon, Brody, Noah, Baylor, Scout, Baby "A" (due February 2021,) Aedan, Emma, Cameron and Everett.
