Madeline "Lynn" C. Hedlund passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 in Summerfield, Florida with her family by her side.  She was born May 8, 1939 in Belvidere, Illinois to Elmer "Booty" and Mildred (Tolley) Frank.  She married James R. Hedlund, Sr. on November 13, 1965 in McHenry, Illinois and they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. Lynn decided to go in the seminary in 1983, after their sons were grown, and attended Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago and Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa, where she received her Associates in Ministry degree.  She served on the Northern Illinois Candidacy Committee for 18 years and was employed by Salem Lutheran Church in Rockford, Illinois from 1982 – 2000.  In addition to all of those accomplishments, she helped Jim with the family tour and charter service until her retirement to Florida.

Lynn is survived by a large family who loved her deeply and will miss her. Jim, her husband of 50 years; two sons, Michael (Linda) Hedlund of Winnebago, Illinois and Todd (Julie) Hedlund of Rockford, Illinois; two stepsons, James R. Hedlund Jr. and Jeff (Erin) Hedlund of Rockford, Illinois; six grandchildren; Kathy (Harley) Pier, Stephen Hedlund, Marc Hedlund, Melissa (Nick) Souvestke, Allison Howen, and Emilee Hedlund;  two great-grandchildren, Addisyn Pier and Jax Souvestke; two brothers, Fred (Marylee) Frank and Rick (Blanca) Frank; five sisters, Karen (chuck) Britnell, Laurie Pavlue, Debbie (Dale) Landmeier, Nancy Johnson and Wendy Frank; half-brother, Doug Bethke; half-sister, Lisa Lillywhile; and special uncle, Donn (Rose) Tolley; several cousins; and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her parents; brother, Hal Frank; sister, Trudy Critchfield; granddaughter, Carol Ann Hedlund; niece, Terry Lynn Beck; and favorite uncle, Harold Tolley.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday July 31, 2016 at Salem Lutheran Church, 1629 S. Sixth St., Rockford Illinois.  Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m., with Rev. William T. Dahlberg and Rev. Donald Lavelle officiating. In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family.
