IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maggie
Thompson
December 5, 1940 – January 30, 2025
It is with profound sadness and love that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Maggie (Mary Margaret Goddard) Thompson, who gracefully ascended to heaven on January 30, 2025. Surrounded by the warmth and love of her children, Maggie left this world with a heart full of love and a life well-lived.
Born at Duke in Durham, North Carolina, Maggie moved with her parents and sisters to Daytona Beach in 1948, where she grew up. She later attended college at UNC in Chapel Hill. Maggie married Bruce, who was in the Air Force, and the family returned to the area when he retired in 1982.
Maggie was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church in Port Orange and the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida. She was a dedicated community volunteer, serving on various boards including the Daytona State College Foundation, WISE Program at DSC, Daytona Beach Symphony Society and Daytona Beach Ski and Travel Club, as well as holding various positions at the Halifax River Yacht Club. Her passions were praising God for everything in her life, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing bridge and traveling.
Maggie is survived by her children Todd (Alma) Minard, Kim (Todd) Rolfe, Dave Mixon, Kathy (Mike) Wilkes and stepchildren John (Michelle) Thompson and Tony Thompson. She was a loving Nana and Nene to her grandchildren: Chris (Ashley), Josh (Sharissa), Matt, Sam, Devin (Darin), David, Gabriela, Brittany (Jordan), Brandon (Ashlynn) and Griffin and great-grandchildren Payten, Daisy, Haley, Titus, Axel, Jet, Ozzy Bruce, Margot, Brody, Avery and Arden. Maggie is also survived by her sisters, Susan Goddard and Jane (Steve) Akin.
As our mom embarks on her eternal journey, we find solace in knowing she is now reunited with loved ones who have gone before her, and she will forever watch over us from above.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Episcopal Church (4110 S Ridgewood Avenue, Port Orange, FL 32127) on Saturday, March 15 at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Grace Episcopal Church or a charity you support.
