Margaret Hill Cannon passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026. Born on October 22, 1935 to Winfred and Mary Hill of Hack's Point, Maryland, her father was a waterman which provided Margaret with a childhood on the Bohemia River. Growing up in this environment fueled her lifelong love of the water and her curiosity of the world around her.

In 1952 she married William (Bill) Cannon and began a life raising five children in Maryland and Delaware before relocating to Orlando, Florida in 1984. Margaret and Bill travelled the globe as she loved exploring new places and cultures, while meeting interesting people. She loved sharing her experiences with friends and family. While Margaret held many jobs in her lifetime, she was most celebrated for her extraordinary sewing skills. It was in that realm that she could let her creativity shine. She shared her creations with family and friends often and loved to teach and mentor other aspiring quilters and crafters. At one point her home contained a space with seven sewing machines where she held regular gatherings of her sewing friends. One of her favorite places to shop and socialize was The Sewing Studio, which she affectionately referred to as her "Watering Hole."

Margaret is predeceased by both her parents and her husband of 55 years. She is survived by her brother Allan, her five children, Sherri, William (Tom), Lisa, John (Tim) and David along with their families. She was the proud grandmother of six and a great grandmother of seven with another one on the way.

A celebration of Margaret's life will be held August 15 in the Altamonte Chapel 825 East Altamonte Drive, Altamonte Springs, Florida 32701 [407-339-5208]. Friends are asked to start gathering at 10:30 am with the service starting at 11:00. To remember that Margaret was very fond of bright and happy colors, please avoid mourning colors for this celebration. Refreshments to immediately follow at the nearby Chapel Community Room. Per Margaret's wishes she will be cremated and her ashes returned to Cecil County, Maryland in October.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation or American Cancer Society.
