Peggy Gasmire, a resident of Tara Woods in North Ft. Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully and comfortably on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, with her daughter, Maria (Mimi) Kiff by her side. She was 93 years old.

Peggy was born on February 9, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to John Patrick O’Keefe and Frances Boyle. She attended West Catholic High School, graduating in 1950. She was recruited right out of high school by Blythe and Company, a nationwide investment firm, where she worked until 1962. She moved to Middletown, New Jersey in 1970 and worked for Midland Glass Co. In 1985, she married Richard (Dick) Gasmire. They spent 31 years together until his death in 2017.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dick; and her brother John Patrick O’Keefe.

Peggy is survived by Maria “Mimi” Kiff of Coventry, Rhode Island; Joe Rusche of New Castle, Delaware; Sue Werley and her husband, Troy, of Grapevine, Texas; Jay Gasmire of Granbury, Texas; and David Gasmire and his wife, Sandee, of Fredericksburg, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Robert F. Thomas II and his wife, Jamie; Dallas Kiff; Joseph Kiff; Ty Gasmire; Samantha Gasmire; Jaden Werley and his wife, Elizabeth; Tessa Werley; Natalie Gasmire; Charles Gasmire and his wife, Corey; as well as five great-grandchildren.

Peggy was a creative and endearing woman. She loved her family and friends. Peggy expressed that love through artistic expression and a giving heart. Her love for beauty led her to an outstanding hobby/career as an artist. She loved to sketch and paint beautiful works of art that were sold in galleries and on-line. Her favorite paintings were her floral presentations. She was very modest about her artistic skills and devoted many years to creating more than 100 works of art.

Peggy was also a very devoted friend who truly loved her neighbors in Tara Woods. Peggy welcomed friends, family and acquaintances into her heart and home with love and loyalty. She was a giving person and a blessing to all that knew and loved her. She loved the holidays and decorating was a passion, using candles and dried florals that she collected. She lived a very full life, and she blessed her family and friends in countless ways over many years.

Peggy will be laid to rest with Dick at Dallas–Fort Worth National Cemetery on September 21, 2026. A celebration of her life will be held at Tara Woods at a later date.
