Obituary

Margaret Dawne Stokes, 80, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away on February 24, 2018 at Hope Hospice. She was born on February 28, 1937 in Toronto, Canada to the late George and Louisa (Williams) Sexsmith.  In the 1970's in Toronto, she was instrumental in creating the East Agincourt Community Association, the East Agincourt Softball Association, and she helped in purchasing playground equipment for C.D. Farquharson Public School.  She was an active fundraiser with her husband for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Canada.

After moving to Florida with her husband, she enjoyed planning a weekly community social event to encourage friends to mix and mingle, coordinated many bus trips to to the Immokalee Casino, and planed trips to Busch Gardens and a Caribbean Cruise that would bring neighbors together. She was one who cared about everyone else more than herself.  Margaret always enjoyed visiting with friends and family. She is survived by her son, Wayne T. Stokes; her brothers, George Sexsmith, Delbert Sexsmith, Frank Sexsmith; and her sister, Lois Smith. Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband Cyril Stokes who passed away in 2005

While flowers are appreciated (as Mom loved receiving them), donations may be made to Hope Hospice on HealthPark Circle in Fort Myers at donate.hopehcs.org. This organization took loving care of Mom in her final few days. The funeral service will take place on Saturday March 17 at 11:00am at St. Luke's Episcopal Church 2635 Cleveland Ave, Fort Myers, FL 33901.
