IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margarita
Garcia
October 19, 1941 – July 10, 2025
Margarita Garcia , one of the kindest and most generous souls you could ever meet, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.
Margarita was born on October 19, 1941, in Marianao, Cuba, to Geraldo Santos and Margarita Dieguez y Santos. She met the love of her life, Roberto Garcia, at a friend's quinceañera, and a few years later, they were married on June 25, 1961.
Together, they built a beautiful life. Their first daughter, Margarita Moreno, was born soon after, followed by their son, Roberto R. Garcia, two years later. In 1966, with hopes for a brighter future, they made the difficult decision to leave Cuba and immigrate to the United States. Their journey took them on a 42-hour flight from Havana to Madrid, Spain, with only the clothes on their backs. After three months in Spain, they were finally able to settle in the U.S. Her strong family ties and Catholic faith were a constant source of strength and peace throughout her journey.
Though she didn't know the language at first, Margarita found work in a factory making girdles in Freeport, NY, supported by friends and family who helped her adjust to her new home. During their time in New York, she and Roberto welcomed their second daughter, Alina Garcia.
Eventually, the family settled in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where Margarita began a career with the United States Postal Service. She found great joy in delivering mail, building friendships with co-workers, and brightening the days of those along her route with her warm smile.
After retiring from the USPS, Margarita fulfilled a lifelong dream by working at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, at EPCOT. She cherished her time there, creating wonderful memories with her fellow cast members and visitors alike. Though her Parkinson's diagnosis eventually forced her to step away from her role, she continued to visit the park regularly and maintained close friendships with many of her Disney colleagues.
Margarita is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Roberto F. Garcia; her daughter Margarita Moreno and her husband Guillermo; her son Roberto R. Garcia and his wife Patricia; her daughter Alina Garcia; her grandchildren Ryan Brown (and his partner Vanessa) and Alyssa Anderson (and her husband Edward); her brother Geraldo Santos and his wife Reyna; her sister Maria Cranston and her husband Timothy; her Aunt Lola Marcenich; and her cousin Teresa Moreno (and her husband Sigfred).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
