Maria Antonia P é rez n ée Coira passed on peacefully at Cornerstone Hospice House, on Wednesday, March 26, joining her husband, Marco T. Perez, who predeceased her 8 years ago. When they first moved to The Villages over 25 years ago, there were still buffaloes in the area, where they had their house built, the first one built in the Santo Domingo area. They soon became involved with the Spanish American Club and the Democratic Party. Antonia enjoyed her water aerobics in the morning, and playing card and domino games in the afternoons with her Villages friends. She also loved line dancing. Heaven forbid anything interfere with her schedule! Antonia also enjoyed spending time with her family. Family was very important to her, and she instilled a deep love of family in her children. After the death of "the love of her life," as she called her husband of over 65 years, she ceased most of her social activities. Antonia was 96 years old and is survived by her three children and their families, including nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, her youngest sister, and a number of nieces and nephews. Celebration of life for Maria Antonia and Marco Perez will be on May 3 in Mount Dora. Her friends are welcome to attend. Please RSVP at 352-552-1746.
