Maria da Pedra Martins,

Born March 20, 1940-

Died January 7, 2023

Born on the Island of São Miguel, in Azores Portugal, to Antonio and Cecilia Correia.

Grew up in Vila Franca do Campo, then her and her mother Cecilia

moved to Rio de Janeiro Brazil in the 1950's.

She then Emigrated & settled in New Jersey in 1960, she came to this country that she so loved. Married

Manuel S. Martins in 1966, had daughter Cynthia Martins and Richard Martins and 2 grandsons Marllo and Giovanni who all live in South Florida. She became a Widow in 2000. She settled in Florida in 2001 to be a full-time grandma to Marllo.

Our mother will be missed dearly each and every day. Her story from rags to riches is truly inspiring. She brought over a multitude of family members over the years who all became very successful individuals. Maria had an impeccable work ethic and lead by example. She had so much passion and love for life, her family and everyone and everything she touched. She was a world traveler, a singer, very successful business owner. She won countless deep sea fishing tournaments over the years!

From 1968 thru 1995, She was a Restauranteur and Owner of El Pescador Restaurant for over 25 years and Chestnut Hill Supermarket both businesses were located in Roselle Park NJ

She was a practicing Catholic, very much into her Faith.

She Sang Portuguese FADO music and has her own Album. She Loved deep sea fishing, crabbing , and just fishing off of her dock, she loved racing around in her Wellcraft Scarab speed boat

"Olé Maria" and anything to do with the Beach and the water. She was always the best Hostess and the life of the party, dancing and singing, she loved entertaining her family and friends. She helped 100's of people, being the humanitarian that she was.

She loved cooking,

(the best cook ever) gardening, She loved any Casino (local to her) especially Atlantic City NJ and the Seminole in FL. She also loved bowling, soccer, watching her favorite TV Shows Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, playing cards at home and was a Jack of all trades, she could fix anything and was always doing something around the house. She loved her family more than anything and would spend all of her time with them.

She was the youngest of 13 children. She was an Amazing mother, grandmother, wife, sister, daughter, Aunt and friend.

She was pre-deceased by brothers Antonio, Jose, Manuel, Horacio Correia and sisters Maria Estrella Santos, Joana Maçaroco, Maria Jose Ferreira, Hortencia Pereira, Clotilde Pacheco, Cecilia Bento,

and survived by

Floriano de Matos and Custodia Bento of New Bedford, Massachusetts. Also Survived by 100's of amazing beloved nieces and nephews, mostly all living in Massachusetts,

and many living in Brasil

and São Miguel Azores .

Services will be private.

Memorial Mass will be announced at a later date.
