IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marianne
Date
March 1, 1944 – March 30, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marianne (Glubaskas) Date on March 30, 2025, at the age of 81. She was born in Detroit to Louie Tony Glubaskas and Nellie Marie (Zyren) Glubaskas. A graduate of Holy Redeemer High School, Marianne married her high school sweetheart, Norman Frederick Date, and in their sixty-one-year marriage, they raised a loving family.
Marianne was the beloved sister of Louis Glubaskas and Virginia Pochloff; the cherished mother of three daughters, Noreen Warrick, Debra Koelzer (Leonard), and Patricia Reiter; the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren, Andrea Unrein (Bryan), Erica Koelzer, Daniel Warrick (fiancée Samantha), Nicholas Koelzer (Lissa), Rebecca Latham (Jarid), Kathrynne Warrick, Joanna Warrick, and Kevin Reiter (fiancée Elise); the doting great-grandmother of five great-grandchildren, Ellie, Sophie, Amelia, Millie, and Elijah; and the dear aunt of many nephews and nieces.
Marianne graduated from the Elsa Cooper School of Court Reporting and dedicated over twenty years to service as a court reporter in the Wayne County Circuit Court system. She had a passion for all handicrafts, particularly needlework and quilting. In retirement, her summers were spent enjoying time at their home on Secord Lake in Michigan, and winters at their home in The Villages, Florida. But her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whose daily milestones and accomplishments she celebrated.
In accordance with her wishes, her remains will be cremated, and her final resting place will be at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery in Brownstown, Michigan. Further details regarding her internment will be shared at a later date.
Marianne will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. Her love, kindness, and laughter will forever be in our hearts.
Marianne had a special devotion to Blessed Solanus Casey. Those wishing to offer an expression of sympathy are invited to consider the Capuchin Food Kitchen ( https://www.cskdetroit.org/ ) or another charitable organization of their choice.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
