Marie Florance Steighner, age 86, passed away with her family by her side at the Hospice Southeast Volusia Care Center in Edgewater on Tuesday, April 19, 2011.  Marie was married to the late Edward G. Steighner, Sr. and is the mother of Donna (Frank) Morris of New Smyrna Beach, Edward (Linda) Steighner, Jr. of Oak Hill, Mark Steighner of Edgewater, Judith "Judy" (Michael) Beard of Edgewater, Margaret "Peggy" (Danny) Denkins of Maryland, Germaine "Geri" (Warren) Wilson of Port Orange, and Mary "Jo" (Michael) Tripodi of New Smyrna Beach.  Other survivors include twenty-two grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.  Sisters include Marguerite (Kenneth) Ochs, Anna Pifer, Ruth Gazzam, LaVerne Sorochman (deceased), Mildred Tagg, Virginia (Carl) Cantella (deceased), and Grace (Mel) Young.  Her brothers are William Donalies (deceased), Howard (Janet) Donalies, and Daniel (Helene) Donalies.   Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Marie moved to Florida in 1956 and has lived in the New Smyrna Beach/Edgewater area ever since.  She was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, prayed the Holy Rosary daily, and introduced the Chaplet of Divine Mercy to our area in 1986.  She owned and operated Answer All Telephone Answering Service in New Smyrna Beach for many years before handing it down to her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Frank Morris.
