Marilyn Theresa (Curtin) Murray passed away peacefully on Friday morning, January 16, 2026, in North Fort Myers, Florida, after a courageous battle with aggressive lung cancer. She was 75 years old.
Born in Quincy, Massachusetts, on November 19, 1950, Marilyn was the beloved daughter of the late Margaret and James Curtin. She grew up in Weymouth, Massachusetts, where she attended Weymouth Public Schools and graduated in 1968. Marilyn began her career working at the Fargo Building, a naval facility in Boston where she first met John. She also worked for a temp agency in Boston and the South Shore, where she enjoyed learning about different businesses and meeting new people. She later took a permanent position at the Quincy Naval Shipyard where she worked until her retirement.
In 1971, Marilyn married the love of her life, John Murray. The love journey began on a blind date at the Museum of Science in Boston. Thereafter, the couple made their home in Holbrook, Massachusetts, before retiring to North Fort Myers, Florida, where they shared over 54 wonderful years together.
Marilyn will be remembered as a quiet, kind, and creative soul with a warm heart and a sharp wit. Her gentle nature and sense of humor brought joy to everyone around her. She loved spending time at the beach, reading, bowling, and traveling--especially on cruises with her husband, exploring destinations around the world.
She is survived by her devoted husband, John Murray of North Fort Myers, Florida; her sister, Jeanne Carlton of North Fort Myers, Florida; Jeanne's children, Johnny and Joanne; her sister, Barbara Curtin of Hampton Falls, New Hampshire; her brother, James Curtin and his wife, Bonnie of Bourne, Massachusetts; James' child, James III; her brother, Stephen Curtin and his wife, Colleen of Whitefish, Montana; Stephen's children, Sarah, Steven, and Danny; her sister, Eileen Duarte and her husband, Brian of Salem, New Hampshire; Eileen's children, Brittany, Brianna, and Baylee; and her brother, George Curtin and his wife, Maureen of Hampton, New Hampshire; George's children, Ethan and Noah. She is also survived by nephews, Herb and Joseph; as well as, several grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and cousins.
Marilyn was predeceased by her parents and sister, Marie Devine of Whitman, Massachusetts.
Marilyn will be deeply missed by her husband, family, and many friends in both, New England and Florida.
