Marion Catherine Ann Simonowicz Wisdo, 91, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020 in Mt. Dora, Florida of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, Vincent Jerome Wisdo.
She was born May 3, 1929 in Mt. Carmel, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Vincent and Florence Simonowicz. A graduate of Mt. Carmel High School in 1947, where she met her future husband, Vincent Wisdo. They were married on November 26, 1949. They began their professional careers in Baltimore, Maryland, later moving to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Marion started as secretary working her way up to Executive Secretary to the Vice President of ARCO Chemical. Marion and Vincent raised their children in the Philadelphia area, with weekends spent in Ventnor, New Jersey at the shore. They built their summer home in Ventnor in 1979, with the intensions of retiring there.
Marion enjoyed oil painting, flower arranging and had a love for the beach. She was a talent cook and enjoyed entertaining. While raising her children, she became very involved as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. Marion and Vincent were both involved with their local church as volunteers.
She had a love for travel. After retiring, she and Vincent took numerous trips to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii and cruises around the Caribbean. In 1986 after the death of their daughter in law, Eileen Wisdo they took a break from retirement to help raise their two granddaughters in Florida. They soon purchased a home in Florida and became snowbirds, traveling back and forth to their home in New Jersey. Marion was a breast cancer survivor and a caregiver for her late husband until his passing.
Marion is survived by her two children, Mark Wisdo and his wife Karen of Mt. Dora, Florida and Valarie Coking of Absecon Highlands, New Jersey; five grandchildren, Jennifer Penn and her husband Tyler of Apopka, Florida, Natalie McComb and her husband John of Ocala, Florida, Greg Klote and his wife Megan of St. Louis, Missouri, Andrew Wisdo of St. Petersburg, Florida and Matthew Coking of Absecon Highlights, New Jersey; and six great grandchildren.
She also leaves behind one sister, Theresa Fruet of Annandale, Virginia. In addition to her parents and husband, Marion was preceded in death by her brother Vincent Simonowicz.
