Mark
Letourneau
June 29, 1967 – August 2, 2022
Mark Joseph Letourneau, 55, Buffalo, NY, passed unexpectedly and peacefully in his sleep in Parrish, FL, on August 2, 2022. Mark was born June 29, 1967, to Robert Joseph Letourneau and Dona Clare (Gerber) Letourneau in Cleveland, OH. He graduated from Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park, NY, in 1985. He went on to study international journalism at SUNY in Buffalo, NY. The allure of Buffalo well entrenched in his DNA, Mark maintained deep roots and beloved friends in the City of Good Neighbors. While in Buffalo, Mark began working with Gary Server on a successful paint striping business that eventually stretched from New England to the Sunshine State of Florida. For 36 years, Mark was a striping veteran in Straight Line Marking and helped launch Straitline Southern.
Mark was well-known for his meticulous and award-winning work, which he showcased in response to the 2016 Pulse Night Club massacre. Mark created a stunning rainbow memorial – a large painted 'circle' comprised of 17 straight segments and six colors for 102 individual sections to memorialize the 102 victims of the tragedy.
Mark was an avid poker player, golfer, and skier. He also enjoyed beating his friends at Scrabble and Monopoly. He enjoyed vacationing with friends and family whenever his schedule allowed. Mark, the consummate oldest brother, snuck his younger brothers their first drinks, taught them to play poker, and always bought them Bazooka bubble gum from the concession stand at his baseball games. His loss at such a young age was unexpected and heartbreaking.
The second of five children, Mark is survived by his father, Robert (Betty Torello) of Cincinnati, OH, older sister Elizabeth Letourneau (Robert Bush) of Baltimore, MD, younger brothers John Letourneau, Stephen Letourneau (Ian James) of Columbus, OH, and Jennie Norris (Wes Norris) of New Albany, OH. Mark was the proud uncle of Garrett Letourneau Bush and Emmett Letourneau Bush of Baltimore, MD, and Watson Norris and Juliet Norris of New Albany, OH. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dona.
A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held on Saturday, August 27th, from noon to 2 pm in the Queen Room at the Creekside Banquet, 2669 Union Rd., Buffalo, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to NPR, Mark's favorite news source.
