Marla Sue (Smith) Pittenger, 64, formerly of Westerville, Ohio, passed away on August 9, 2026, in Ocala, Florida. 

She was born on July 13, 1962, to Carolyn Smith and attended Big Walnut High School. 

Marla was a strong Christian whose faith in the Lord was an important part of her life. She loved her family and found joy in the things that made her happiest — country music, dancing, vacationing in Key West, NASCAR, and attending the Daytona 500. 

Marla is survived by her mother, Carolyn Smith, of Ocala, Florida; her brother, Mark Smith and his wife, Andrea, of Henrico, North Carolina; her son, Mathew Pittenger and his wife, Jessica, of Pataskala, Ohio; her grandchildren, Laila, Scarlett, and Noah Pittenger; her nephew, Ryan Smith; and her niece, Amber Jamison and her husband, Michael.

 She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Lawrence “Dean” Smith. Marla’s life touched many people in different ways, and she will be remembered by those who knew and loved her. 

May she rest in peace with the Lord she loved.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marla’s name to the Franklin County Dog Shelter.
