Marshall Grant "Duke" Kunerth, of Port Orange, FL went to be with his Lord on December 7, 2018 at the age of 73, after a long battle with cancer. Born on April 13, 1945 in Montevideo, MN and Duke was a Navy Corpsman serving in Vietnam in the late 60's and was commissioned in the Medical Service Corps, completing his Masters in Business Administration in 1977. He retired with the rank of LCDR in July 1983 from Portsmouth Naval Hospital. He worked for 17 years with Lockheed Martin as a Procurement Specialist. Golf was his passion; not many can say they achieved 4 Hole in One's at Crane Lakes! Our garage will never be the same without Duke and Harry, his BFF, standing and discussing the events of the day.
Duke is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sarah (Welch) and three children, Cory of Jamestown, ND, Lisa (Tillman) of Riverview, FL and Tina (Gammons) of Oveido, FL. "Grandpa" is survived by 11 loving grandchildren, who kept him young at heart, Sierra, Corin, Jocilyn, Jasmine, Malin, Samara, Aaron, Emma, Owen, Ella and great granddaughter, Nya Janae. He is also survived by his sisters, Gwen Heimer (Eric) of Champlin, MN and Lynette Haglund (Larry) of Spearfish, SD; and brother Mark Kunerth (Jeanie) of Costa Rica; numerous nieces and nephews. Duke is preceded in death by his parents, Rueben and Dorothy (Strootman) Kunerth Greenfield; Parker Greenfield; and nephew Troy Haglund.
Burial for Duke is scheduled for January 17, 2019 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at 3 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 18, 2019 at Crane Lakes Club House, 1850 Crane Lakes Boulevard, Port Orange, FL at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Halifax Health and Hospice Fund Development, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
