Martha Cecilia Froude passed away peacefully on April 9 th , 2025 in Venice, Florida, following a courageous two-year battle with ALS.
Born on April 30, 1953, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to Gustavo and Maruja Silva, Martha immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of 10 beginning a new chapter of life filled with resilience and joy.
She spent many years in South Brunswick, New Jersey, raising her three children and serving the South Brunswick Police Department. Later, she remarried Kenneth Froude and relocated to Humble, Texas, where she contributed to the Harris County Board of Education until her retirement. In retirement, Martha and Ken settled in Nokomis, Florida, enjoying beach days and the Gulf Coast.
Martha was known for her warmth, laughter, and vibrant spirit. She shared her love through cooking, and her unique gift for turning everyday moments into songs that will live on for generations. With her charismatic personality and joyful presence Martha made friends wherever she went.
She found happiness in simple pleasures—boating, crocheting, golfing, swimming, cooking, a glass of wine, and enjoying movies with loved ones.
Martha is survived by her devoted husband, Kenneth Froude of Nokomis, Florida; her three children from her first marriage—Adrian Burgos of Freehold, NJ, and his fiancée Jacqueline; Raquel Listner and her husband Mike of Chester, NJ; and Candice Hapanionek and her husband Marc of The Woodlands, Texas. She is also survived by her brothers, Gustavo Silva of Guayaquil, Ecuador, and Antonio Silva of Columbus, NJ; and her six beloved grandchildren—Cole, Dane, Cecilia, Vivienne, Lukas, and Jakob.
A funeral Mass will be held on April 30th, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Monmouth Junction, NJ. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Jamesburg, NJ.
Martha will be remembered always for her joy, love, and the beautiful light she brought into the lives of those who knew her.
