Obituary

Martha Karen "Mimi" Tunison. August 24, 1951 – June 19, 2026

Martha Karen "Mimi" Tunison, 74, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, after a life lived in full devotion to her faith in Jesus Christ and to the people she loved most.

Born on August 24, 1951, in Birmingham, Alabama, Mimi carried the warmth and spirit of the South with her throughout her life. Nothing brought her greater joy than her family. Whether gathered around the table, celebrating a milestone, or enjoying an ordinary afternoon together, Mimi made every moment feel like a gift and made sure those she loved knew how much they meant to her.

She had a special talent for spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and those lucky enough to receive a little "Mimi money" know it always came wrapped in the greatest currency of all, her unconditional love.

Mimi was preceded in death by her parents, James Edgar Bright and Evelyn Bradford Bright, and her beloved grandson, Joseph Oatsvall.

She is survived by her devoted husband, George Tunison “Poppy”; her children, Dr. Scott Oatsvall (Gwen), Yolanda ImOberstag (Paul), and Crystal Johnson (Shane); her sister, Loretta Felts (Wayne); her brother, Dr. Bruce Bright (Karen); She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Jeremiah, Elijah, Emily, Maggie, Daisy, Brandon, Lauren-Ashlee, Miranda, Amy, Zander, Zach, Bella, Savannah, Drew, Deacon, Evelyn (great-grand), Paislee, Magnolia, and Desi, and her cherished great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her laughter, her generosity, and her love with them always. Mimi was truly one of a kind. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her family finds comfort in the countless memories she created and the unconditional love she shared so freely.

Mimi, you were truly one of a kind. You were deeply loved, and you will be deeply missed. Until we meet again, may you rest easy in the peace and presence of your Savior
