Martin Hart (Joe)
Jefferson
Jun 7, 1934 — Aug 16, 2026
Martin Hart (Joe) Jefferson, 92, of Davis, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, in Ocala, Florida. He was the youngest of eight children, born to Ostace James Jefferson and Margaret Ellen (Hart) Jefferson, of Barboursville, West Virginia.
Martin cherished his family. He is survived by his wife, Billie Jo, and seven children: Scott (Tammy) Jefferson, Teri Jefferson, Ami Jefferson, Marti Jefferson, Bobbie France, Rick (Patty) Pauley, and Linda (Rich) Przybyl. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one of his children, Mark Allen Jefferson.
Martin proudly served in the United States Air Force, and was stationed in England, where he developed the skills that would guide him throughout his life. He went on to build a distinguished career as a securities salesman and later as a real estate developer, leaving a lasting mark through his hard work and entrepreneurial spirit.
Martin developed a deep love for the outdoors and a daring disposition that showed in everything he did. He was a passionate hunter, a skilled woodworker, and an avid golfer. He loved the thrill of snowmobiling, a good baseball game, and exploring new places through travel. His zest for life was contagious, and he approached every day with enthusiasm and gratitude. Martin's infectious laugh brought his exciting stories to life — and no matter how funny or audacious, he always left you with a little wisdom to carry.
Martin will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His tenacity, sense of adventure, and devotion to family will live on in the many lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2027. Details will be shared with family and friends as they become available. Reach out to martijojefferson@gmail.com if you have questions.
