Marvin J. Cornish Sr, 80, of Edgewater Florida, formally of Barton, NY, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Halifax Health Hospice Service in Edgewater Florida after a brief illness. Marvin was born in Waverly, NY, to Wilbur and Carrie Thomas Cornish. He was a graduate of Waverly High School. Marvin proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army. He was employed at Purolator in Elmira NY as a CNC machine operator for many years until his retirement in 1999. Marvin had a great passion for creating things with his hands, and it was not uncommon to come back after a day away to find new room had been added to his home. He enjoyed being outdoors, camping and creating cherished memories with family. Marvin will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Rebecca; daughters, Tammy Lynn (Steve) Harrower of Barton, NY, Sandy (Timothy) Walston of Grandview TN, and Susan Tiffany of Edgewater, FL; sons, Marvin Cornish Jr of Clifton Springs, NY, Paul (Tammy) Cornish of Barton, NY, Charles Cornish of Elmira NY and stepsons Timothy (Cindy) Cornish of Delano, TN and Allan (Robin) Cornish of Etowah, TN. Marvin is also survived by his brothers, Wilbur (Nancy) Cornish of Cleveland, TN, Thomas (Linda) Cornish of Ovid, NY; his beloved sisters, Marguerite (Robert) Franks of Waverly, NY, Marylee (Jim) Woodcock of Lockwood, NY, Linda (Gordon) Thomas of Barton, NY, and Cindy (Mitch) Foster of Darien, GA; his sister-in- laws Tammy Cornish of Barton, NY and Carol Cornish of Cleveland TN; 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Marvin is preceded in death by his parents Wilbur and Carrie Cornish; Brothers Michael, Joseph, Floyd (Abe), Julius and Patrick Cornish; sister-in-Iaws Violet Cornish and Carol Cornish, son-in-law William Tiffany and great grandson DeCota Logan. At Marvin's request, there will be a Celebration of Life at a time to be determined by the family.
