Born May, 1935 to Iva and Dessa Kindy in Naperville, IL. He was the youngest of 8 siblings which included 3 sisters; Iva, Faye and Joann and 5 brothers; Lee, Donald, Leone, Dana and Dean. 

Raised on a farm, Marvin enjoyed gardening his whole life. Planting trees as often as possible, and well known in the neighborhood for pruning everyone's trees, his knack for growing things was used for a local church garden to provide vegetables to a food pantry. He even grew some herbs and tomato plants this very year!

At Central High School in North Manchester, IN, Marvin excelled in mathematics and participated in team sports, including baseball and basketball. Having a slightly competitive nature, he could also be found, on occasion, at a pool table in the old Fire House; where he 'did not' bet on shots.

After high school, recognizing the importance of the G.I. bill to his future, Marvin enlisted in the US army, and served during the Korean conflict. After his service, he returned home, married Janice Hidy Frye and attended Manchester College for two years, playing briefly on their basketball team.

He and Janice moved to Lafayette, Indiana while Marvin attended Purdue University and they started their family. He graduated with an electrical engineering degree. He and Janice then moved to Endicott, New York after graduation, where he started work for IBM. The family increased by two while living there and Marvin took a job with IBM in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He worked with the team in Fort Wayne to introduce the first ATMs into banks in the city. As a systems analyst for IBM, Marvin enjoyed the challenges of the budding computer age while working in financial institutions.

His second love and hobby was stock trading. He also loved cards and games including Finch, Pinochle and competition bridge. With his excellent memory for what had already been played, Marvin was a 'Fierce' card player.

After divorcing, Marvin moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1983. In 1991, he married Lynn Hendricks Cannon Kindy. They divorced in 2006. Afterwards, Marvin moved to Port Orange, Florida and resided there, close to family until his death.

Marvin was a man of quiet faith. Raised in the Church of the Brethren, he attended several churches throughout his life. He believed in Christ and stewardship to those in need. He supported organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the Heifer Project and Truett Cathy's WinShape Homes.

Marvin is survived by 4 children; Susan Kindy, Beth Kindy (Cindy), Matthew Kindy (Lynn) and Craig Kindy (JoJeana0; 5 grandchildren Skylar Kindy (Julie), Cierra Collins (Kyle) Melissa Kindy, Matthew (Daniella) Kindy and Mark (Lauren) Beadle-Kindy; and 5 great-grandchildren; Julia, Connor, Samuel, Charlotte, and Jameson. As well as multiple nieces and nephews. The family will be holding a private Celebration of Life.
