Marvin "Wayne" Tensfield, born on October 4, 1942, in Manchester, Tennessee, left this world on April 2, 2026, in Leesburg, Florida, at the age of 83. A proud resident of Tavares, Florida, Wayne was not only a dedicated member of his community but also a beloved family man whose warmth and kindness touched everyone he met.
His 26-plus years of service in the army, retiring as a Major, reflected his unwavering commitment and natural leadership. Wayne's career journey didn't end there, he continued to serve through government work and further education, earning admiration as a skilled marksman. For more than a decade, he poured his heart into being President of the Homeowners Association, showing his deep love for his community.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Wayne had an infectious passion for life, especially when it came to playing golf with friends, where his lively spirit and hearty laughter could brighten any day. Known for his great sense of humor and joyful personality, Wayne had a gift for making others smile and feel appreciated.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Saundra Rayburn Tensfield; his son, Craig Tensfield; his daughter, Marcia Tensfield Fransberg; his stepson, Ricky Bratcher; grandchildren Marc Fransberg, Maia Fransberg, Austin Tensfield, Dallin Bratcher, Skylar Bratcher; and great-granddaughter Sophie Marie Tensfield. Wayne was preceded in death by his cherished mother, Lena Mae Shelton Raye; his father, Marvin Louis Tensfield; and his brother, Robert Louis Tensfield.
A private service will be held on January 10, 2027, to honor and celebrate Wayne's remarkable life and enduring legacy.
