IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Elizabeth
Briggeman
July 10, 1949 – February 15, 2025
Mary Elizabeth Cavanaugh Briggeman, 75 years of age, most recently residing in Ocala, Florida, stepped into eternity and into the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ on February 15, 2025.
"MaryB" to her friends, "Beth" to her sisters or "MomB" to her family, was born in Mason City, Iowa on July 10, 1949 to Thomas Francis and Mary (Lattimer) Cavanaugh. She graduated from North Iowa Area College with a degree in Nursing (RN).
Mary's heart was for the Lord, and she had a strong desire to travel. After founding "Resurrection House" in Havre de Grace, Maryland, a ministry to the homeless and addicts, Mary began traveling internationally. Her first travel adventures were with volunteer medical missions to Guatemala, Nigeria and Iraq. Mary also worked as a contract nurse in Saudi Arabia, and then with Doctor's without Borders (MSF) in Uganda, Nigeria, Belarus and Bangladesh.
Determined to savor life to its fullest, with irrepressible energy and enthusiasm, MaryB experienced many an adventure such as rafting the White Nile (in lieu of resting in recovery from Typhoid Fever which she had picked up from the refugee camps in Uganda).
Mary B is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law (Dan, Jenn), and four grandchildren Alexander, Victoria, Zachary and Kiera Briggeman – all residing in Ocala, Florida. She is also survived by her sisters Kathy (John) McMillan of Elgin, Iowa and Jane (Howard) Gleeman of Mendota Heights, MN as well as friends all over the globe. She is preceded in death by her parents (Thomas, Mary Cavanaugh) as well as her brothers Robert, William (Bill), and sister Margaret (Meg) Cavanaugh.
There will be no formal funeral per the deceased's request. In lieu of flowers or gifts, it is requested that you celebrate her life with a donation to a homeless shelter local to you.
