Mary Elizabeth Cox, 89, of Apopka, surrounded by family, passed peacefully on July 2, 2026.

Mary was born in Chattanooga Tennessee on October 14, 1936, to Sybil Eugenia Meacham, and Edwin Elvis Meacham.

A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, Mary received her bachelor’s degree. Following graduation, she worked for the Red Cross throughout the south. She later went on to teach, primarily physical education. She and husband Frank married in March of 1970. They established their home in Apopka where she went on to assist Frank with his textile business, while also becoming a homemaker and raising her children.

Her hobbies and services included; playing tennis, water color painting, the church choir, watching sports, reading, traveling with tour companies and cooking for her family.

Mary is survived by her husband of 56 years, Frank; her children, Brian (Tiffany) and Christy (Jack), stepdaughter, Lisa (Micheal); her grandchildren, Sean, Shannon, Sommer, Sydney, Grace, Brantley, Rhett and Adalyn; and her great granddaughters, Estelle and Lily.

A memorial service will be held at First Methodist Church of Apopka, Friday July 31, 2026 at 10am. Family will be greeting guests from 9-10am. Reception immediately following in Fellowship Hall.
