Obituary

In loving memory of

Mary Hamlin

Passed away on February 11, 2024

Mary Louise Hamlin, 80, of Longwood, FL, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2024.  She left surrounded by family after a brief illness.

Mary was born in West Palm Beach on June 7, 1943, to Robert Franklin Simpson and Edna Louise Simpson.  She married her teenage sweetheart, Wayne Thomas Hamlin at the age of 18.  In 1983 the family moved to DeLand where she lived for the following 40 years.  Mary and Wayne were married 44 years until Wayne's passing in 2005.

Mary is survived by two sons, Alvin C. Hamlin (Leslie Ann Hamlin) and Paul B. Hamlin, her five grandchildren (Ryan, Tyler, Cassidy, Matthew, and Samuel), her sister, Jackie Hollman (A.J. Hollman), and her best friend, Lucia Vanhoof.

Mary did God's work as a teacher's assistant to special needs children for many years prior to retiring. She was always quick to offer a cheerful, helping hand to anyone.  She was a faithful volunteer to many causes throughout her life.

Mary was a devoted and dearly loved mother, grandma, wife, sister, daughter, daughter-in-law, and friend.  She was a grandmother straight out of a fairy tale or Norman Rockwell painting. Her entire family has been blessed beyond description to have had her in their lives.

Mary's 80 years on this earth were far too few.  The world is a better place because she was in it.

Her memories will be forever cherished, and her love and presence sorely missed.
