Obituary

Mary Jane Guion Frey, “MJ”, passed into the arms of her Savior on April 15, 2026. She is survived by a loving husband, David A Frey (The Villages, FL), three sons with their wives, (Craig and Rachel of Fort Myers, FL), (Eric and Jenny of Chicago, IL), (Brandon and Emily of Midlothian, VA), and twelve grandchildren: Asher, Adah Joy, Abram, Warren, Acacia, Jack, Isla, Zoe, Judah, Anna Grace, Cam, and Beckham. MJ is also survived by three wonderful sisters, Kathy, Paulette, and Teresa; and many nieces and nephews.

MJ was born to Joseph and Magdalen Guion in Wilkes-Barre, PA on December 6, 1952. Her younger years were filled with art, singing, and theatre.  She graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School in 1971, and earned a BA degree from the College of Notre Dame Maryland in 1975.

MJ met her husband Dave in 1978 playing racquetball at the YMCA. In those days, they both led very active lifestyles, and it was love at first sight. After marrying in 1982 and settling in Baltimore County, MD, they went on to have three boys who they devoted themselves to until they became empty nesters. MJ was passionately involved in prayer at church and touched so many for the Lord. Over the years, when not watching her boys excel at soccer or spending time with her grandkids, she could be found outside tending her garden or inside cooking delicious dishes. MJ loved beautiful things, especially flowers. She was a gifted painter and completed many abstract works on canvas. MJ marveled at the precision and detail in creation and in art. These things gave her great joy and caused her to worship her Creator even more.

In 2017, MJ and Dave moved south and settled in their wonderful community in the Village of Fenney. MJ was active in bible study, small group, and Sozo Kids with The Church at The Springs. In recent years, MJ would spend much of her days praying, singing worship songs, and spending time with her dear Dave. Family and friends of MJ will miss her obvious joy in the Lord and her great capacity for loving and caring for others.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Riverbend Recreation Center, 1833 Corbin Trail, The Villages, FL 32163, on April 25 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of MJ’s favorite ministries to the persecuted church around the world, Voice of the Martyrs: Donate - The Voice of the Martyrs.
