Mary Inez Medors, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, at the age of 84.

Born on September 5, 1941, in Tampa, Florida, Mary was the daughter of Ira Virgil Cowart and Eva Mae Driggers Cowart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Medors.

Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt, whose family was at the center of her life. She will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, and deep love for her family. Her warm spirit and caring nature touched the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.

While her children were young, Mary worked as a medical assistant in Williston, Florida. Later in life, she retired from Walmart.

One of Mary's greatest joys was crocheting. She especially enjoyed crocheting blankets for her loved ones and friends, creating thoughtful gifts for the people who were dear to her heart.

Mary is survived by her sons, Stuart Eugene Chancey (Tab) and Robert Lee Chancey (Shawna); her grandchildren, Joshua Chancey (Chantelle), Jeremy Chancey, and Cole Chancey; and her great-grandchildren, Bella and Ellie Chancey. She is also survived by her nieces, Sandy Cowart, Diane Sapp, Holly Swearingen, Patricia Powell, Shirley Ann Cardoza, Mary Ann Bingham, and Yvette Meador, nephew William Bellamy, and many other beloved great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Eva Cowart; her brothers, Ira Cowart, Ivan Allen Cowart, Wilbur Cowart, Virgil Lee Cowart, and Steven Cowart; her sister, Marie Bellamy (Bill); and her daughter, Eva Geraldine Bednarz.

Mary's life was defined by the love she gave to her family and the kindness she showed to others. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends who loved her.

A small graveside service for immediate family will be held at Fort McCoy Cemetery at a future date.
