Obituary

Mary Ann Morgan, a beacon of positivity and a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, in Tavares, Florida, at the age of 86. Born on October 18, 1939, in Penfield, Illinois,

Mary Ann spent her life cultivating joy, faith, and an unwavering devotion to her family.

On May 11, 1957, in Potomac, Illinois, Mary Ann married the love of her life, Duane Morgan. Their 67-year marriage stood as a testament to enduring partnership and mutual devotion. Together, they built a life rooted in kindness, eventually making their home in Tavares, Florida.

Mary Ann was best known for her radiant smile and her ability to remain positive regardless of the circumstances. She found immense fulfillment in life's simplest pleasures: her talent in the kitchen, her passion for sewing, and her quiet moments bird watching, working on puzzles, or exploring new sights.   A woman of deep faith, she cherished her community at the First Christian Church in Leesburg, where she looked forward to her Thursday Bible Study every week.

Above all, Mary Ann's greatest pride and joy was her family. She was a constant source of love for her grandsons and was particularly delighted by her great-grandsons, who brought her immense happiness in her later years.

Mary Ann is survived by: her devoted husband, Duane Morgan of Tavares, FL; her loving daughter, Debbie Hicks of St. Joseph, IL; her grandsons, Dakota Hicks (Ogden, IL) and Austin Hicks (Sidney, IL); and her precious great-grandsons—Dallas, Tanner, Parker "PJ," and Houston Hicks.

She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Eva Emma (Everance) Hagen, her son, Jeff Morgan, Sister, Joan Hamblin, Brother, Robert Morfey, Sister-in-law, Nedra Powell, and brother-in-law, Jimmy Powell.

A heartfelt service to honor her life will be held at First Christian Church, located at 1701 Vine Street, Leesburg, FL, on January 24, 2026 at 2:00 pm

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to hospice or to First Christian Church in her memory, small acts of kindness to honor her legacy of love.

Mary Ann's warmth and her infectious smile will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.  Yet, her love and joy live on in the family she cherished with all her heart, forever etched in their memories and in the lives she touched so deeply.
