Mary Ann (Trojanowicz)
O'Bryan
Nov 19, 1947 — Jun 24, 2026
Mary Ann (Trojanowicz) O'Bryan, 78, passed away peacefully in hospice care in Lecanto, Florida, on June 24, 2026, with her children by her side.
Born and raised in Bay City, Michigan, Mary spent more than 40 years in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, before retiring with her beloved husband to The Villages, Florida.
A dedicated student, Mary earned a bachelor's degree in Spanish from Michigan State University. She dreamed of joining the Peace Corps and using her language skills to serve others in Central or South America.
Her college years marked the beginning of her struggles with serious mental illness that profoundly shaped the course of her life. Over the decades, she endured many setbacks and losses because of her illness, yet she faced those challenges with resilience. The support of her family—especially that of her devoted husband of 53 years—and her unwavering Catholic faith sustained her throughout her life and brought her comfort in her final years, when she also lived with dementia.
Mary built a career in administrative roles at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and fulfilled her desire to serve others by volunteering weekly at local hospitals for many decades. She found joy in ballroom dancing with her husband and their circle of friends, was a fiercely competitive card player, a lifelong learner, and an enthusiastic fan of Neil Diamond. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family.
Mary will be remembered for her kindness, her perseverance, and the quiet strength with which she met life's challenges.
Mary is survived by her son, Tim O'Bryan (Jeff Rodriguez) of Bloomington, Minnesota; her daughter, Molly O'Bryan of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her granddaughter, Piper O'Bryan and Piper's mother, Angela Theis, of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Thomas O'Bryan, who died exactly four months before her; her parents, Chester Trojanowicz and Loretta (Duffy) Trojanowicz; and her brothers, John "Jack" Troyanovich and Robert Trojanowicz.
In keeping with Mary's wishes, no funeral service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) or the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-430-1449. Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com.
