HUNTER

Mrs. Mary Theresa Hunter of Flagler Beach, Florida quietly passed away at 5 AM on March 20, 2019 at the age of 83.

Mary T. Breslin war born August 22, 1935 and lived in Queens, New York City for 65 years.  Mary graduated from Our Lady of Wisdom High School, and attended St. John's University before her marriage to Edward M. Hunter on May 26, 1956

After marriage, Mary worked for the New York Telephone Company, as a long line operator and then as a supervisor at the Flushing, New York Customer Service Center.  Eventually she returned to college and received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in primary education from Queens College.   After graduation Mary taught kindergarten, which she loved, for thirty-two years in the Lawrence Public School System at the Inwood #4 School.

Mary and her husband retired in September 2000 and moved to Flagler Beach, Florida as snowbirds traveling to homes on Lake George, NY and eventually an apartment in Clifton Park, NY.  Due to a worsening Alzheimer's condition she settled permanently in Florida in 2013.

Unfortunately, while standing still, Mary fell and broke her hip on March 22, 2018, and after hospitalization and rehab she resided in Brookdale Ormond Beach West, an Alzheimer's and dementia care community. Mary was always pleasant and cheerful.  Mary entered VITAS excellent hospice care and took to her bed on Friday, and after receiving last rights on Tuesday night, she passed peacefully on Wednesday morning.

Mary is sorely missed.
