Obituary

Marybeth Kyle—devoted mom, proud grandma, beloved friend, sister and Aunt, lived her life helping others and selflessly giving, just like Florida sunshine: warm, bright, and impossible not to love. After a courageous battle with Glioblastoma, she left this world surrounded by the love she shared so freely.

Born in West Virginia, Marybeth graduated from Milton High School in 1969 and attended Marshall University before following her heart to Florida—the place she adored most. There, she earned her master’s degree at the University of Miami before settling in Ocala and spent 32 amazing years at the College of Central Florida as a professor of early childhood education. She didn’t just teach—she built a legacy. By opening the college’s lab school, she gave parents a place to bring their children while pursuing their education, making success possible for countless families. Helping others was her superpower, and she used it everywhere she went.

Marybeth had a sweet, soft voice that could calm a storm and make anyone feel heard. She wasn’t just a teacher; she was a second mom, a bonus grandma, and a cheerleader for anyone who needed one. She didn’t just touch lives—she changed them.

She loved Florida with her whole heart—the Gulf, the ocean, the warm breeze, and anywhere with plants, flowers, and sunshine. Her green thumb was magical: her sunflowers didn’t just grow, they soared, sometimes over 8 feet tall, just like her love for people. MaryBeth knew the importance of showing up and looking fabulous—she wouldn’t go anywhere without her hair and makeup done, and she carried it all with the brightest smile and the whitest, most perfect teeth (seriously, those teeth needed their own spotlight). Somehow, she never looked a day over 50, something she would have laughed about and taken full credit for.

She loved K-dramas, BTS, dance competitions, and her loyal dog, Jaspar—but her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She supported every part of their lives—they were the center of her heart and her endless inspiration.

She is survived by her son, Christopher W. Kyle (Sarah), and daughter, Hannah “Summer” Kasarla (Shashank); her four grandchildren, Jasmine I. Gonzalez, Paris D. Gonzalez, William P. Kyle, and Arya M. Kasarla; her best friend/soul sister Paula Pinder. Her niece, who was like a daughter, Missie Barnett (Jon); her brother, Craig Caldwell (Debbie); and countless friends and extended family who were lucky enough to be loved by her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Junior Wallace Caldwell; her sister, Becky Anne; and several of her beloved animals—who we can only imagine she is already spoiling again.

Marybeth leaves a legacy of laughter, kindness, generosity, and joy. She made the world brighter, happier, and just a little more fabulous. She showed us how to love big, help often, and always—always—take care of each other.

(And somewhere, there’s a garden blooming taller than ever and Marybeth’s sweet voice reminding everyone to fix their hair and makeup and smile before leaving the house!

“If Love Could have saved Her, she would have lived Forever”
