Matthew W. Blade, 76 passed away suddenly at home on May 2nd, 2022 in North Fort Myers, FL.  Matt was born in Warwick, RI on December 13th, 1945. He attended Providence College in Providence, RI where he received a Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration – Class of 1982.  Matt was employed at The Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI from July 1967 to April 2006. A veteran of the U.S. Army.

Matt is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Blade, three children; Michael Blade, Brian Blade, Sherrie (Morin) Blade, and Megan Senecal.  He was the proud "Papa" to nine grandchildren; Alyssa Blade, Zachary Blade, Martin Blade, Lincoln Blade, Ella Blade, Shane Morin, David Benoit, III, Jack Benoit, and Skyla Benoit.  He is also survived by his sister's Linda Elliott, Sheryl Travers.

Matt umpired men's, women's and girl's softball in Johnston, RI. He was on the Board of Directors at Inn on Long Wharf in Newport, RI.  In his retirement he made sculptures of actual people's hands as a keepsake. Service arrangements have not yet been finalized.
