Matthew Todd Roberts, age 62, of The Villages, Florida, passed away on April 7, 2026. Matt had been very ill and passed suddenly in his home of a heart attack.

Matt was born on November 2, 1963 in the City of Saint Louis, Missouri, the son of Edward Roberts and Karla Roberts (Johanboeke). He graduated from De Smet Jesuit High School in 1982, then went on to Creighton University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1985. In 1989, Matt earned a Master of Science degree in Human Sciences from Auburn University.

Matt worked as a Human Resource Specialist for the Saint Louis Community College. He was later certified as a Human Resource Software Implementation Specialist, working for the Centene Corporation and several human resource software consulting companies. In 2025 Matt retired from Washington University in Saint Louis where he helped lead a team through their implementation of Workday software.

While living in Missouri, Matt was a member of the Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Saint Charles. Since moving to Florida, Matt continued celebrating his faith attending the Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Matt and his partner Mark, moved from Saint Charles, Missouri, to The Villages, Florida, in 2022. While Matt’s time in Florida was short, he and Mark enjoyed traveling, cruising, and many activities with new friends and neighbors.

Matt is survived by his partner of 30 years, Mark Diehm. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ed and Karla Roberts. He was loved and cherished by all his family and friends.

A funeral mass will be held in Florida at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church at 5323 E CR 462, Wildwood, Florida, on Saturday May 9th at 10:00am. A funeral mass with internment of Matt’s ashes will be done in Missouri at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church at 601 N. Fourth St., St. Charles, Missouri, on Thursday May 21st at 11:00am.
