Melanio Cuebas Jr. (Manny) age 83, of Brooklyn, NY and later resided at Port Orange, Florida, entered into rest with his family by his side on August 5, 2026.

Melanio was born December 8, 1942, Mayagüez, Puerto Rico and relocated to New York 1951. The son of the late Melanio Cuebas and Isidra Ruiz.

Melanio is survived by his loving Children, Joe Cuebas, Jeanette Taveras, Carmen Vega, and Zchantell McDonnell. Sons-in-law Jerry Taveras, Michael Vega, and Jimmy McDonnell. He is also survived by his three sisters, Carmen Cuebas, Jeanette Cuebas, and Iris Galindo.

He was also a cherished Grandfather of 9 wonderful Grandchildren, Jaime, Jay, Christina, Rebecca, Joshua, Jason, Arianna, Sophia, Mikey and logan. Great Grandfather of 4 beautiful Great Grandchildren: August James, Owen Timothy, Savanna Lee and Sianna .

Melanio Cuebas also known as Manny attended Automotive High School in Brooklyn, New York. He started as a caretaker J, at the New York City Housing Authority, then become a Business Agent for Teamsters Local 237 he was appointed as the Assistant to the President of Local 237 and retired as the Secretary Treasurer on the executive board of Teamsters Local 237.

He was an avid Marathon runner he ran 11 New York City, Long Island Marathons and, he enjoyed playing baseball and manage a league as well called the Hatillo baseball club and love to play paddle ball. He loved Dancing salsa with his beautiful wife Frances and taking long walks on the beach. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Manny was loved by many people as a family man, friend, and union leader always there to fight a good fight for his members, he touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing him. He had a compassionate heart always making sure he made donations to the Wounded Warriors Foundation and the Saint Jude Hospital he always wanted to give back to those who were in need. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that lives on in all of us.
