Melvin Ray "Mel" Bryant, 74, of Cocoa, Florida, passed away on November 4, 2023. He was born on May 1, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Hamilton County. Melvin, known fondly as Mel, was a very kind and gentle man who cared deeply about God, his friends, and his family. He had a passion for photography and traveling, particularly to Monument Valley. Melvin also discovered his talent for painting over five years ago and enjoyed working with acrylic in the Health First Caregivers and Loved Ones class. He was a patriotic individual who loved his country and never missed an opportunity to thank service personnel for their dedication and sacrifice.
Melvin is survived by his loving wife, Janet Weigold Bryant, his sister Zelma Rodgers, his son Scott Bryant, his daughter Amy Bell, his stepson Steve Weigold, his stepson Bryan Weigold, his grandson Christopher Bryant, his granddaughter Angela Storer, his grandsons Josiah Bryant and Judah Bryant. He was preceded in death by his brothers Charles Bryant and Larry Bryant, his mother Nellie Bryant, and his father Sherman Bryant.
Melvin served in the Navy from 1967 to 1971 during the Vietnam era. After his military service, he pursued a career as a Bus Driver, working for Florida Air Academy and Cincinnati. He was also an operator at Loroco in Cincinnati.
Melvin was a member of the Church at Viera, where he found solace and community.
In his free time, Melvin enjoyed traveling, photography, and painting. These hobbies brought him great joy and allowed him to express his creativity.
There will be no memorial services held for Melvin Ray Bryant.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions be made to the Health First Foundation, 1350 S Hickory St, Melbourne, FL 32901 or online at HF.org/give for Painting Classes at Center for Family Caregivers. Donations can also be made to the Church at Viera, 9005 N Wickham Rd, Melbourne, FL 32940.
The Baldwin Brothers funeral home in Titusville, FL, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
