Mercedes Rita Ruiz, 73, of Cape Coral, FL, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Lee Memorial HealthPark Medical Center.  Born on May 30, 1948, in Santiago, Dominican Republic to the proud parents of Angel De Jesus Torres and Mercedes (Estevez), Mercedes was a retired accountant.  She enjoyed outside activities, especially with and around her family.  Mercedes in her younger years, was an avid golfer and played often with her husband and friends.  She specifically enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and church events with her church family.  Mercedes obtained a bachelor's degree in accounting from Queens College, City University of New York.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Juan F. Ruiz, whom she married on February 24, 1973 in Queens, NY; her loving daughter, Leila Mercedes Ruiz; and by her precious grandchildren: Hasan Aziz Parker, Louis Juan Parker and Tatiana Faith Parker.
