Micha
Yaron
October 29, 1930 – March 30, 2026
Micha Yaron was born in 1930 in the city of Tel Aviv Israel, on the border of the ancient city of Jaffa. His parents were Pinhas and Beila Yacovlev, Zionists who in the late 1920’s left their native Lithuania with two young children to emigrate to the land of Israel. Micha was their youngest child.
Growing up inTel Aviv, he loved playing soccer with his friends. In his early teens, he left his family to live in a kibbutz in the north of Israel. It was there, at the age of 17, that he was recruited into the Palmach, an elite military commando unit engaged in protecting Jewish communities from raids by their Arab neighbors, and other activities that facilitated Israel’s statehood. Later in 1947and 1948, he fought with the Palmach in Israel’s war of independence. Micha went on to be an IDF veteran of Israel’s next three wars: 1956, 1967 and 1973. He served as Company Sergeant Major. He was proud of the role he played in the creation of the State of Israel and he loved the country unconditionally.
From 1949 to the early 1960’s, he played soccer for Maccabi Ramat Gan. From every part of his life, Micha collected friends. He was out-going and sociable, and he loved soccer, the beach, and Tel Aviv night life.
In 1975, he immigrated to the United States, where he had many friends, and where he became a U.S. citizen with dual citizenship. After brief stays in several cities, he settled in Los Angeles and began his career in building management. In 2000 he married his wife Viki and together they moved to Biloxi MS to be near her mother. After Hurricane Katrina, the couple spent nine years in Auburn AL, and then moved back to Biloxi. Ten years later, in 2025, they moved to The Villages FL, where Micha passed away. Although his life in the Villages was brief, Micha loved the community and was grateful that he and Viki moved there. He commented to family and friends that The Villages was a wonderful place to exit a long and interesting life.
Micha is survived by his wife Viki of The Villages FL, his beloved daughter Tali and granddaughter Dar of Ganey Tiq’va Israel, and a large and loving family on both sides of the marriage. He was kind and loyal and tough - a spirit both playful and fierce. He is deeply missed by family and friends.
