Michael Ernest Cleary passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, on September 4, 2026. He was 77 years old.

Michael was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on October 27, 1948 to Matthew and Mary Margaret (McIntire). He was the third child of five and his siblings included Patricia, Kathleen, Margie, and Matthew.

In his early years, he was page boy to the bishop and served as an altar boy. He attended Cathedral Prep and Gannon University. During the Vietnam war, Michael served in the army for two years with the medical service corps.

With his beloved wife, Michele, he raised two daughters, Andrea and Simone, in New York, Pennsylvania, and Florida. He was an active community member and served on the village board of Falconer, taught CCD classes, coached baseball, and refereed basketball. Michael had a long and successful career in the pharmaceutical industry and retired in 2012.

Michael enjoyed singing in the choir, playing golf, reading and storytelling. He was often outdoors, tending to the lawn and garden. He loved telling jokes, staying current with news and politics, researching family history and making oatmeal bars. He was deeply loved by family and friends and he will be dearly missed.

Michael is survived by his wife of 55 years, Michele (Bellomo) Cleary; daughters, Andrea Cleary and Simone Cleary; son-in-law, Robert Kastigar; granddaughters, Amelia and Sarah Capote; siblings, Patricia (Don) Gehrlein, Kathleen Pirello, and Matthew (Evelyn) Cleary; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Matthew Cleary; sister, Margie Bagnoni; and his favorite aunt, Mae McIntire.

Services will be announced at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Dunedin Public Library, The American Cancer Society, or Sailability.
