Age 65, of Ormond Beach, FL, passed away on January 2, 2016 at the Coquina Center. He is survived by his siblings; Patricia (Ed) Blatt of Macungie, PA, Kathleen (Franz) Skryanz of LaGrange, NY, Teri McCarthy of Ormond Beach, FL, Joseph (Valerie Adams) McCarthy of Jacksonville, FL, and Peter (Tracey) McCarthy of Jacksonville, FL.

He was predeceased by his parents Joseph (2011) and Catherine (2007) McCarthy and his brother Timothy McCarthy (2014).

Growing up in New York, Michael was a gifted athlete excelling in both baseball and golf. Unfortunately, his adult years were spent dealing with the ravaging effects of Multiple Sclerosis. Even with his difficulties, Micheal was able to graduate with his B.A. degree from the State University of New York. All those who knew him were amazed by his ability to deal with his crippling disease with courage, grace and humor.

His family would like to thank all the medical professionals who helped Michael and in particular the caring staff at Coquina Center for the excellent care they provided for many years.
