Obituary

It is with deep sadness, yet with faith in God’s eternal promises, that we announce the passing of Michael Sandro, who peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord on July 7, 2026, at the age of 88.

Michael was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a faithful friend. He lived a life marked by kindness, humility, compassion, and unwavering love for his family. His gentle spirit, warm smile, and generous heart touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

He found joy in spending time with his family, working as a carpenter for an Exhibit Company for 45 years, cheering on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles, and creating lasting memories with those he loved most. Playing pinochle and horseshoes were some of his favorite memory makers with family and friends. His legacy of love, faith, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He grew up the son of Italian immigrants in New Jersey on a farm and was a proud member of the Sons of Italy. As a personal passion, he grew vegetables, fruits, and flowers in the ground, greenhouses, raised beds, and even in his own homemade hydroponic system. Harvests got cooked, canned, frozen, or turned into homemade jelly, ketchup, tomato sauce, and wine. He was a chef extraordinaire, especially for large groups at the Sons of Italy Lodge where he earned the moniker, Chef Padre.

He always had a project whether building a sustainable heating system in the fireplace, a bocce ball court, or a homemade smoker out of an old refrigerator. He was an avid hunter of rabbits, deer, mushrooms, and hidden treasures at flea markets. His beloved beagles and other dogs were frequently on the hunt with him. He also shared a love of old cars and took great pride in restoring and showing his 1968 convertible mustang, which his children and admiring onlookers still enjoy today. Everyone ate, drank, and lived well who knew Michael.

Michael is lovingly survived by his beloved wife, Diane Sandro; his children, Mary and Michael Sandro; his cherished grandchildren, Mikey and Madison; as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.

Although our hearts are broken by his passing, we rejoice in the hope of the Gospel. We take comfort in knowing that Michael placed his trust in the Lord and now rests in His eternal peace, free from pain and surrounded by God’s perfect love.

May Pooh Pa rest in the peace of the Lord, and may God’s love, comfort, and strength surround his family today and always.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever in our hearts. Pooh Pa, Uncle Mike, Chef Padre, and Flash Gordon….
