Michael served honorably in the United States Navy, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of duty and patriotism. Among his siblings, Michael is survived by his sister Becky and Allen Bates, and his brother Sam and Joy Schakow. The family circle is further enriched by one niece and two nephews, all of whom held him in high regard.
