Michael Edward Shai, age 75, passed away following a short illness on Friday, April 2, 2021 in Ocala, Florida. He graduated from Arundel High School class of 1964. Michael was a member of the Maryland National Guard where he was a full time member for over nine years and reached the rank of Sergeant. After leaving the guard he was employed with the DOD as a policeman at the U.S. Naval Academy when he then retired in 2000. After retirement he married Sharon Sweeney and moved to Ocala, Florida where he presently resided. He was a member of Our Lady of the Fields Church, Millersville, Maryland. Michael loved to work on cars and kept his "show room" clean at all times. He loved his little dog Nila and he and his wife treated her like their child. He was born January 15, 1946 in Ft. Meade, Maryland and was the son of the late Michael Adam and Mary Anna Shai. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth McManis, Dorothy Fowler and Jeanette Clark and a brother, Charles Shai.
Survivors include his wife of six years, Sharon Shai; sister Cecelia (Clarence) Denton, brother Jerry (Elaine) Shai and an abundance of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held in Maryland and announced at a later date.
