Obituary

Michael (Mick, Mickey) Starkey 82, departed peacefully at home in Sarasota with his family on Jan 19. Born in Milan,IN to Margie and Elwood Starkey. He had two brothers, John and Richard (both deceased). Mick graduated from Milan High and went into the Army where he served in Germany During the Vietnam War. He attended IU. Mick came to SRQ and met tne love of his life, Lillian Creech. They Married (57 yrs),had 2 sons, Michael,Jr. (deceased) and Christopher. Mick was known as "the Dancer" to many because he taught ballroom dancing to hundreds at Fred Astaire ad Michael Ford's Danc Studios. He danced around the world. Mick could have been a stand up comedian but instead was a car salesman selling VW's and Toyotas. Because he was a salesman's salesman he also sold travel. He and Lil loved the perks of travel! They went to Hong Kong for Thanksgiving Mick was an amazing person, a loving husband, father and a loyal friend to so many. He never met a stranger and never forgot a name. His ashes will be laid to rest at Sarasota National Cemetery on February 4, 2021 at 130 PM. Donations maybe made to Tidewell Hospice.
