Michael Phelps Sullenger I (62), beloved father, husband, brother, and friend, passed away in the early morning of Sunday, June 25, in Port Orange, Florida. He was born on January 15, 1961, in Baltimore, Maryland.He was preceded in death by his parents, James Eli Sullenger II and Betty Gant Sullenger.
Michael will be fondly remembered by his five siblings: Karen Sullenger, Jan (Al) Treworgy, Julie (Butch, predeceased) Denning, Sally (Chip) Powell, and Jim (Erin) Sullenger. He is predeceased by his brother Charlie (Jeanne) Sullenger and his sister-in-law Kathy Hulvey. His brothers and sisters shared many cherished memories with him and provided unwavering support throughout his life.
On April 2, 1982, Michael married the love of his life, Kimberley Kinion Sullenger, and together they embarked on a beautiful journey filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. Michael will be deeply missed by his four children and their families. He is survived by his children Michael (Hana) Sullenger II, Kenneth (Kim) Sullenger, Jake Sullenger, Kate (Kendall) Olivo. He was also beloved by his three grandchildren Michael III, Bethany, and Joshua Sullenger.
In addition to his immediate family, Michael leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews whom he held dear to his heart.
Michael's life was marked by an adventurous spirit and a love for traveling. He sought new experiences and delighted in discovering the beauty of different cultures and landscapes. As an avid photographer, he captured these precious moments and was honored to serve as the official photographer for the U.S. Dive Team.
An entrepreneurial spirit led Michael to open several restaurants alongside his family. His culinary talents extended beyond the restaurant industry, as he also operated a thriving catering company. Michael's culinary skills were sought after by many, and he had the privilege of catering for NASCAR events and many church functions.
Those who knew Michael will remember him for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and friends. He possessed a remarkable sense of humor and delighted in sharing his collection of Dad jokes, always ready to bring laughter to those around him.
Michael had an extraordinary love for music. His encyclopedic knowledge of songs from the 70s and 80s was legendary, and he often entertained his loved ones by quizzing them on the artist and title of various tunes. He kept his family on their toes, ensuring they never missed a beat.
A celebration of Michael's life will occur on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 10am at First United Methodist Church (305 Dunlawton Ave, Port Orange, FL 32127). The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. The family requests that those in attendance 'come as you are', just as Michael would have wanted.

Michael Sullenger's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will be cherished, and his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be remembered as a devoted family man, an explorer of life's wonders, and a source of joy and laughter.
