Michael James VanDyke, originally from Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on August 29, 2026, at the age of 84.

Mike was the kind of person who could strike up a conversation with just about anybody. Easygoing, friendly, and always willing to talk your ear off. He got along with everyone he met, and his approachable nature made him someone people enjoyed being around.

Throughout his life, Mike wore many hats. From working at Corning to playing music in a band called the Tail Gators to working as a television repairman, he experienced a variety of careers and adventures. Music was one of his greatest passions. He loved both listening to music and playing it himself. Mike was also a loyal fan of the Orlando Magic, enjoying the excitement of basketball and cheering on his team.

Above all, Mike cared deeply about his family. Although he became a father to his son Chance later in life, he put his heart into giving him the best childhood he could. That effort, and the love behind it, will always be a meaningful part of his legacy.

Mike is survived by his children, Chance, Russ, Michelle, and Michael, and his brother, Dennis. His memory will live on through the family he loved, the music he shared, the conversations he enjoyed, and the many people whose lives he touched along the way.
