Michael Balie Yancik, age 85, passed away on March 20, 2021 in Summerfield, Florida.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Rinette (Renee) of Summerfield, Florida; his children Michael Yancik, Jr., Christopher Yancik, Darci (William) Stenson, Darrin Yancik, all of Connecticut, and Robin (Stanley) Mendyka of Indiana; his stepchildren, Keith Bouchard and Melissa Colin and sisters Mary Ann Jansonis and Irene Benevenuti all of Connecticut. He was preceded in death by his parents Michael Balie Yancik and Anna Petro, and his stepfather John Petro; his son, Perry Yancik, and his brother, John Petro, Jr.
Michael was born on March 29, 1935 in Carteret, New Jersey. He attended Torrington High School and Northwestern Connecticut Community College in Winsted, Connecticut. He held a position in Quality Control with Sikorsky Aircraft and retired in 1997, after many years.
Michael was a proud Korean War Veteran who served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army, surviving the historic Battle of Pork Chop Hill, and receiving a Purple Heart for his service.
Michael was a great family man and loving father. He married Rinette Theriault in Bristol, Connecticut and the couple had eight children between them. They also shared 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Michael was a socially active man who enjoyed camping, motorcycling and Veteran's affairs. His family and friends will always remember him as a true friend and comedic person.
A funeral service is scheduled for Michael on April 9, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Mark the Evangelist, Route 42, Summerfield, Florida.
